Pusoy Dos is played with a standard 52-card deck. The goal is to get rid of all your cards before the other players. Each player is dealt 13 cards, and the player holding the 3 of Clubs makes the opening play.
On each turn, a player must beat the last play on the table using the same format — a single must be beaten by a higher single, a pair by a higher pair, and so on. If you can't or don't want to play, you pass. Once everyone else passes, the last player to play leads the next round with any combination they choose.
The first player to empty their hand wins. At AZJill, winnings are calculated based on how many cards remaining opponents are holding when you go out — the more cards left with others, the higher your payout.
In 13-Card Pusoy, each player receives 13 cards and must arrange them into three separate hands before revealing:
Front Hand (3 cards): Must be the weakest hand. Can only be a high card, pair, or three of a kind. No straights or flushes allowed here.
Middle Hand (5 cards): Any standard poker hand. Must be stronger than the Front Hand but weaker than the Back Hand.
Back Hand (5 cards): Must be the strongest hand — the best five-card poker hand you can make from your remaining cards.
After all players reveal their hands, each hand is compared individually against the corresponding hands of every opponent. You win 1 unit per hand you win. If you win all three hands against an opponent (a "scoop"), you win a 3-unit bonus in most AZJill table variants.
Misset (Fouled Hand): If your Front hand is stronger than your Middle, or your Middle is stronger than your Back, your hand is fouled and you automatically lose all three comparisons for that round. Be very careful when arranging your cards at AZJill — the timer counts down.
Special Hands: Some AZJill Pusoy tables recognise special hand bonuses — Dragon (13 consecutive cards), Three Flushes, Three Straights, and Six Pairs. These hands win automatically and pay bonus multipliers.

The 2 card is the highest single card in Pusoy Dos — that's why it's called "Dos." When values are tied, suit rank determines the winner:

Pusoy is not just a card game in the Philippines — it's a tradition. Ask any Filipino about their fondest holiday memories and many will mention a deck of cards spread across the living room floor, multiple generations of family members crowded around, and the competitive energy of Pusoy Dos running well past midnight. It's the kind of game that teaches you to read people, manage your hand, and time your plays. AZJill brings that same energy to an online platform where you can play any time, on any device, against real Filipino players.
The word "Pusoy" likely derives from the Spanish-influenced card game tradition that was woven into Filipino social life during the colonial period. Over generations, Filipino players developed their own variants and rules — the most distinct being Pusoy Dos, where the 2 card reigns supreme and the race to empty your hand defines the entire strategy. Today, Pusoy Dos is played in barangays across the entire archipelago, from Batanes in the north to Tawi-Tawi in the south, and in Filipino communities worldwide.
What makes Pusoy culturally significant isn't just that it's popular — it's that the game rewards a particular kind of intelligence. You have to think ahead, anticipate your opponents, manage your cards under pressure, and occasionally bluff through a pass to control the tempo of the game. These aren't just card skills; they're life skills that Filipinos have sharpened at kitchen tables for decades. AZJill honours that tradition by providing a platform where those skills translate directly into real-money winnings.
A lot of online card game platforms are generic — built for a global audience with no particular connection to Filipino gaming culture. AZJill is different. The Pusoy lobby at AZJill was designed with Filipino players in mind from the start. Table stakes are set in Philippine Pesos with buy-ins that are accessible for everyone, from casual players starting with ₱50 to serious players at the high-roller tables. All tables are populated with Filipino players, which means the pace and playing style will feel familiar from the very first hand.
The AZJill interface handles the technicalities automatically — card dealing, combination recognition, invalid play prevention — so you can focus entirely on reading the table and executing your strategy, exactly the way you would at a physical game. The timer gives each player enough time to think without letting the game drag, and AZJill's Speed Pusoy Dos tables offer an even faster format for players who want to get through more rounds in less time.
For players who want to go beyond casual table play, AZJill hosts regular scheduled Pusoy tournaments with guaranteed prize pools. These multi-table tournaments work on an elimination format — play through multiple rounds, survive each stage, and compete for a share of the announced prize pool. Tournament buy-ins start at very accessible levels, making them open to the entire AZJill player community.
During major Philippine holidays — Christmas, New Year, Holy Week, Independence Day — AZJill runs special edition Pusoy tournaments with larger prize pools and seasonal bonuses. These events often fill up quickly, so AZJill recommends registering early once a tournament is announced.
Pusoy at AZJill is real-money gaming, and that comes with responsibility. The same way you'd set a limit for yourself at a physical card game among friends — "tonight's budget is ₱500" — AZJill lets you set daily and weekly deposit limits to keep your gaming within comfortable bounds. You can access these tools at any time from your account settings. If you ever feel like your play is getting out of hand, the AZJill Responsible Gaming page has self-assessment tools, temporary cooling-off options, and, if needed, permanent self-exclusion.
The best Pusoy sessions are the ones where you're playing sharp, enjoying the competition, and staying within a budget that doesn't affect your day-to-day life. AZJill is committed to making sure the game stays fun for every Filipino player on the platform.
